After the 2010s, mobile phones started to dominate the technology industry. Now mobile phones are like the backbone of every working person. Mobile phones contain our passwords, house address, exact location, credit card information, business information, our customers' contacts, and many more.

So, you can say mobile phones are like a gold mine of information. From world gold, you can evaluate the importance of this mine. As you know, cyberattacks are increasing day by day. So our primary concern must be to protect data on our mobiles. How will we do that? Here are some ways:

1- Use a passcode

Having a password is like having a door lock to your house. Imagine having the main door of your house open at all times. Will you say my house is safe? Not at all! That’s the same case here. Setting a password gives a lock to your door, and here the door is your phone.
So when someone tries to crack your password, you can figure it out. This is the first and foremost step towards data protection policy.

2- Keep an Anti-Virus like a guard

This is one step further from the first step towards data privacy. You must install an antivirus on your mobile phone. Installing an antivirus on your mobile is the same as having appointed a security guard for your house. Therefore any unknown person trying to enter your premises will be tracked and hunted down.
But you must keep in mind that you must use a licensed antivirus application. If it costs you, you shouldn't have any problem because your data is worth way more than that amount. That is why as of February 2019, 53% of internet users were more concerned about their online privacy than a year ago.

3- Connect to secure Wifi

The Internet is the need of the hour. You must need an Internet connection to do everything. Mobile phones are a blessing in this regard that you can connect to every connection everywhere. But Hackers use this need as their weapon. When you connect to the public or free wifi, the server can have your complete data access.
To stay safe, you must use a virtual private network or VPN. VPN will keep your location and data safe.

4- Keep your software update

In mobile phones, software updates often come. This is an essential step towards data privacy. You must update your mobile software whenever updates are available.
Let us tell you why updates come, As cybercrime activities are imminent now. So companies keep updating their software to the extent that hackers have little access to their software. So they keep coming up with better and more secured software. Because according to a global adult population survey, the likelihood of being hacked in 2021 is 34%.

5-At rest Encryption

This is a significant factor for data protection. Encryption means encrypting or coding your data or info into some form that certain people can access. It includes at rest encryption and Google Drive encryption.

The practice of At-rest encryption includes saving paid invoices with customer credit card info so that only known people can access who knows about this encryption.
Google Drive encryption means that you encrypt a file with a key or password on the drive. Only people with an encrypted key or passwords can access the file.

Conclusion

These are some simple steps to protect data on your mobiles. One other thing is that you ensure that you deal with companies or organizations that have gdpr compliance means a complete visible data protection policy.
By applying these straightforward and modern steps, 65% of the global population will cover their data under current privacy regulations from 2020 to 2023.
